about the night bazar

The main venue for shopping in Chiang Mai is the night bazaar. It is a can't-miss part of the Chiang Mai experience. Ground zero of this nightly commerce bomb is located at the intersection of Chang Khlan Road and Loi Khro Road but the whole thing spreads out for two blocks in either direction. Set up time is around sunset (usually about 18:00) and shopping goes on unabated until about 22:30 with a few vendors remaining open even later. A good way to check out the whole thing is to start at Tha Phae Road and work your way south towards Loi Khro. Once you reach the end of the market, cross the street and work your way back along the other side. Don't forget to peek down the little sois (alleyways) and arcades along the way. If you see something you like you might want to be patient-there are hundreds of vendors and an absolute flood of products for sale. - www.chiangmai-bangkok.com

The night market is also famous for its street food trucks and live entertainment. You can grab a bite to eat, a few bottles of Chang and watch a live band singing your favourite tunes whilst chilling out with your friends.

our review

The Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai is the main hotspot for tourists (and locals) of an evening.

Hosting everything from market stalls selling original "fake" designer wear (same, same but different, right?), to little trinkets and holiday gifts.

It is a great way to mix with the locals and get to know what Chiang Mai is really like! The city here really does come alive of an evening and the market starts setting up at around 6pm (sun set).

There is also an outdoor food court where there are food trucks, portable bars and live entertainment for everybody to enjoy (they have a seating area so you can comfortably eat your food & enjoy the music).

If you're visiting Thailand during rainy season be sure to take a rain coat or an umbrella when walking around the market as you know the weather can be quite temperamental during these times.

We really enjoyed the Night Bazaar on our visit and it is a definite must-see if you're visiting Chiang Mai!
