our review
RESORT
The resort at The Village, Coconut Island is absolutely stunning. You arrive via boat from mainland Phuket (departure is every 30 mins & the trip is 10 mins in total) and the views are breath taking. You feel like royalty as you pull into the dock for the start of your adventure. There are 3 restaurants on site (with some all-inclusive packages available), as well as a pool, beach area, outdoor activities (such as kayaking, catamaran etc), spa and fitness area. There is a shop on site which sells essentials such as toothpaste, soft drinks, alcohol, snacks, sun cream etc.
Also, keep an eye out for the frogs on the island – they remind you that you are located on a relatively remote island in the middle of Thailand. As you stroll back to your room of an evening you are surrounded by "ribbiting" frogs – it really is something (thankfully you can't hear them from your room as they are soundproof).
service
The staff at the hotel were extremely accommodating and friendly. From the reception desk to the spa, the restaurant to the pool-side everybody offered to help you with a smile.
We required transfers from our location on to our next spot (Phi Phi) and this was all kindly taken care of by the reservations manager at reception, we didn't have to lift a finger.
swimming pool
The swimming pool was a good size and suitable for children of all ages. It is located just behind the beach and next to the restaurant so the perfect location for a bite to eat at lunch or if you fancy tanning at the beach other than the pool. Some of the villas also have their own private pool which is an added luxury.
fitness & spa
Fitness
The fitness area was a good size and had all the necessary machines required to achieve a decent workout, from running machines, weights, cross-trainer etc you name it, it had it. We would advise to take your own music as there wasn't any playing when we visited.
Wellness Spa
The Spa was absolutely stunning and had a wide range of treatments, the changing rooms were also to a high standard and towels/lockers were provided. If you decide to treat yourself for a spa treatment it's best to book in advance as the slots get taken quickly.
dining
The Village hosts a selection of different dining options, each one individual in its own special way.
Koko
Koko Restaurant and Bar boasts a creative cocktail menu including an exciting assortment of traditional Japanese cuisine and Asian fusion dishes. With elevated views into Phang Nga Bat and uninterrupted views of the ocean, it truly is a romantic setting on any day.
Kabang Restaurant & Bar
Kabang restaurant & bar is one of the first sights to greet you as you embark on your short walk down the front pier and into the resort. With a cool, light design and the sea breeze gently blowing through, Kabang restaurant serves up a variety of authentic Thai and Asian cuisine. There is no better place on Coconut Island to sit back, forget your worries and take in the stunning seascape.
Our visit to Kabang Restaurant didn't go off to the greatest start. We arrived early to the resort so decided to order some lunch before our check-in time. We ordered two very basic dishes (spaghetti bolognase & Thai noodles) and had to wait a very long time for the food to arrive (as the restaurant was very busy). When our food arrived, it was stone cold. I informed a staff member and they reheated it. It tasted nice when it returned but it was a shame we had to wait almost one hour for it.
Kucina Restaurant
Sitting below an imposing Sala, and atmospherically lit by hanging chandeliers, this bustling restaurant is a mecca for those with a passion for exquisite tastes. Savour authentic Italian wood-fired pizza, pasta and international cuisine. With the sounds of light jazz, the smells from our genuine wood burning pizza oven, Kucina offers guests a complete sensory experience.
We was very impressed with this restaurant during our visit and thought the food was delightful. We arrived around 9pm and the atmosphere was a little dead, however you could hear the music being played from the beachfront bar which helped perk things up a bit.
Private Dining
The in villa dining menu is perfect for a lazy evening in, with a great selection of Thai and Western favourites available for delivery straight to your door. If you’d like to get the authentic 'Island-Dining' experience you can also book one of their private BBQ experiences which takes place right on the beach!
rooms
Once we checked in, we realised just how amazing the rooms were. We had a two bedroom villa with our own private swimming pool, and trying to describe this in words just will not do it justice. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were amazingly comfortable – probably the best and comfiest bed we slept in throughout our entire trip – we slept like babies. They even had a pillow menu to suit each guests needs.
The bathroom had a powerful walk-in shower (which was also very spacious) and the living area had two sofas and a wide screen TV which is more than enough for any family. There was also a kitchen area which had a fridge, oven, microwave etc (as well as a large dining table so you don't have to eat out every night).
