Away is one of the most comfortable and classy resorts in Kanchanaburi. Hosting 104 rooms that all feature a wide array of eco-friendly amenities, you'll be ready to explore the surrounding area, relax by the lavish salt water pool or dine on the most delicious 5 star cuisine.

When you approach the hotel you get a sense of royalty as the décor looks glamourous from the exterior whilst you are greeted by member of hotel staff who will assist with your luggage and welcome you to the hotel.

Away is close to local attractions such as Kanchanaburi Railway Station (The Death Railway), The Bridge over the River Kwai, war museum etc.

service

The service at Away Kanchanaburi is impeccable and to the highest standard. The hotel offers room service, transport hire, personal training, concierge and many more. We found the reception desk very helpful when asking for directions/booking transportation, making dinner reservations etc.

The staff at the hotel spoke fluent English however this could sometimes be hit and miss. It wasn't a problem as there was always somebody around who could lend a helping hand.

fitness & spa

Pamper yourself at Away's Le Dheva Spa, which provides spa and treatment packages from around the world. This sanctuary of tranquillity offers the perfect ambiance to unwind after a workout or long day exploring the city’s historical landmarks. You can spoil yourself with a luxurious selection of treatments that include herbal scrubs and traditional Thai massages.

Away's fully equipped Techno gym facilities feature world-class kinesis machines, along with state-of-the-art strength and cardio machines. Their personal trainers also specialize in instructing Thai kickboxing classes, yoga and cross-training.  The gym was empty the majority of our trip and it was nice to feel like you had the place to yourself.

swimming pool

Away’s salt water pool has activities for all age groups. Their trainers also facilitate daily pool-related classes such as water Taichi, water aerobics and many more.

You can enjoy happy hour at the pool bar from 5-8pm which we found was a great way to unwind after a long day of exploring.

rooms

Away Kanchanaburi’s accommodation features wood carvings and exquisite artwork that captures the beauty of a bygone Colonial era. For our taste we felt the décor was a little dated and dingy as the lighting inside was poor. The bathrooms also seemed dated and in need of a revamp as this lead to them looking a little dirty.

Your balcony overlooks the surrounding tropical woodlands and is the perfect place to sit back and relax with nothing but your thoughts.

The room is cleaned daily and the amenities include a TV, mini bar, comfortable bed, chair, dresser, safe and wardrobe.

dining

When your appetite beckons, you can feast at one of Away's five restaurants that offer a decadent array of traditional Thai cuisine and delicious western fare.

We visited the River Barge restaurant one evening which is set in the most beautiful surroundings of the River Kwai. We was excited to see what delights it had on offer however, the food was just OK and to be quite honest, slightly bland and unfortunately the restaurant lacked atmosphere. Due to the fact it was on the river, it was surrounded by small flies and bugs.

If you had the option to eat out, we would recommend it over visiting this restaurant. We didn't try the four other restaurants on site however we hope they were better than this one.
